Working Title:    Floral Design Concepts - Beta Test
Report Author:    Ladan Moshiri
Date:   04/26/2010

Brief Profile of Users:
Three users were selected for the test. One of the users was an educator who teaches Floral Design at Southwestern College. The other two users were members of the community who had little knowledge about floral design.

Think Aloud Task:
The users were asked to perform the following tasks:

In addition, each user was asked to comment on the general layout of the site.

Summary of Think Aloud:
All of the users quickly located a picture and a description of color hues. One person had a difficult time locating the description of the floral foam, since she did not consider floral foam to be a tool; therefore, she failed to go to the “Tool” page in order to locate the description for floral foam. The other two users were able to find the description of the floral foam without any trouble. Furthermore, all three users were able to find the appropriate container for triangle floral arrangements quickly. Only one person was confused about where to find the links related to caring for fresh cut flowers, since she went to the “Home” page instead of the “Care” page, assuming that all the links were only in the “Home” page.

All three users liked the general layout of the website. They all thought that the selected colors were exciting as well as suitable for a website related to flowers. They also expressed that the layout made the information easily accessible. They especially loved the fact that different flower pictures were used to show the psychological effects of each color.

Summary of Post-test Interview:
All of the users thought that the site was easy to navigate. They agreed that it contained sufficient information to meet the needs of different visitors. Users particularly liked the information on the “Color” and “Care” pages. They also liked the expandable pictures at the bottom of every page.
One user suggested adding more space between the letters in the body of each paragraph, so the words can be read more easily on a pink background. One person also suggested adding a thorn-remover to the list of the basic tools needed for floral design.
